The Chartered Physiotherapists in Sport and Exercise Medicine, or CPSEM, is a Clinical interest group of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. They represent all chartered physiotherapists working in sport and exercise therapy in Ireland and aim to maintain the high standards of care provided by physiotherapists/physical therapists to all clients involved in sports.
Members of CPSEM are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP). They are passionate about what they do and will continue to learn the most recent research and techniques in order to provide the best care possible for their clients.
CPSEM members are primarily interested in sports injuries and exercise medicine. They excel in getting people back to sport/fitness in the shortest time possible, no matter what their activity level. They can assess and treat a variety of conditions using manual therapy and therapeutic exercise to restore normal movement and function.
Some examples of conditions treated by CPSEM members include sports injuries such as strains, sprains, and tears, overuse injuries, training/technique-related dysfunction, fitness deficits/impairments, neck and back problems, upper and lower limb dysfunctions, movement problems after fractures or orthopedic surgery, joint and muscle pain as a result of arthritic conditions, joint sprains and strains, muscle and tendon injuries, and ligament injuries.
